I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about what type of training is necessary to succeed as a writer and in life. And I now clearly see that writers need three specific types of training to achieve successful authorship or develop a writing career: Author, Authorpreneur, and High Performance.
Let me explain.
If you want to succeed as an author, the first things you need are a solid understanding of the publishing industry, a strategy that helps you produce a marketable book idea, and the ability to sell books to your target audience. Of course, writing skill helps, too. Second, you need to know how to make money from your knowledge, experience, and book content. Finally, you need to master your mindset, habits, energy, and people skills so you move toward your goals consistently, courageously, and enthusiastically.
Writers that get trained in all three area are weaponized to succeed as authors.
How do I know? I’ve received all three types of training, and I now make a living as a successful author. Each training helped me in a specific way, but I couldn’t have accomplished these goals without all three.
Let’s look at these three types of trainings and discuss how they support your writing and publishing goals.
Author Training
Most aspiring authors jump into writing and publishing a book with no training at all. That means they have little understanding of what it takes to write and publish a book that has the potential to succeed. Therefore, they are surprised when the process is not as easy or fast as they thought it would be, and they don’t get the results they desired.
Author Training teaches you how to treat your writing as a business. After all, that’s what publishing is—a business that consists of producing and distributing and selling products (books) to the marketplace.
If you get trained to become an author you know how to: – Determine how you need to change to become an author – Analyze your market – Analyze the competition – Conceptualize a marketable book—one that will sell. – Develop a plan to get your book into the hands of your target readers – Sustain yourself financially – Decide on the best publishing path for you and your book
Author Training teaches you how to create a business plan for a book, write and publish a marketable book, and determine how to ensure that book sells. Additionally, Author Training supports your transformation from aspiring to published author.
Authorpreneur Training
Many aspiring authors believe they will make a living from their book or books. But that belief is based on a myth.
You can, however, make a living by monetizing the content in your book and your knowledge in a variety of ways. For instance, you can produce webinars, online courses, membership sites, speeches, and even more books.
Authorpreneur Training gives you the knowledge you need to turn your desire to write and publish a book into a livelihood. You learn how to brand yourself and your website, promote your work with a blog and social media (including video), and make money with products and services related to your book, expertise, and experience.
Authorpreneur Training provides knowledge and strategies that make your dream of authorship a sustainable living.
High Performance Training
Unsupportive habits and mindsets limit your ability to succeed and realize your dream of successful authorship. That’s why the most important thing you can do to succeed—at anything—is to work on yourself.
Your degree of success is correlated directly to the amount of time, money, and effort you put into your personal development or growth. And this is true in every endeavor, including writing and publishing.
When you gain more clarity, energy, courage, productivity, and influence, you move forward toward your writing goals much more quickly…and others will support your dream as well. That’s why you have to work on the only thing in the way of successful authorship: you.
High Performance Training offers mindsets, habits, and strategies proven to help anyone succeed—Fortune 50 CEOs, Olympic Athletes, writers, artists, musicians, and homemakers. When you can master your psychology, physiology, focus, effectiveness, and people skills, you increase your likelihood of achieving any goal—including successful authorship.
Three Weapons for Success
Each one of these training places another weapon in your arsenal of ways to become a successful writer and develop a fulfilling and financially stable career.
Could you succeed without one of these trainings? Sure.
Will it be easier to succeed with training in all three areas? Definitely.
So, why wouldn’t you get Author, Authorpreneur, and High Performance training? The only reason I can imagine is that you don’t know where to find such programs.
No problem. I know where… You can get Author, Authorpreneur, and High Performance Training and coaching in the Nonfiction Writers’ University Masters level program. Check it out here.
