10 days ago I promised something I didn’t deliver upon. In this post I said I’d tell you how to publish your work in multiple social networking sites in one easy step. Then I forgot to follow through. So 11 days later, I’m back to make good on that promise!
When you publish a blog post or a press release or you want to update all of your social networking sites, you can, indeed, do this with one easy step. It all begins by signing up for Hootsuite.com. Once there, link all your social networks, such as Facebook, Linkedin and Twitter, to Hootsuite.
Once you have done this you can test out the system but simply offering a status update. Type something into the status box (where it says compose message) and then click on all three of your social networks (if you have three). Then click on “send now.” You have just updated all three with one click.
In the same way you can notify all of your networks about your latest blog post. You can add the link to your post (or to any interesting article or post or a press release you have posted at Expertclick.com, for instance) in the box next to the word “shrink.” When you click on “shrink,” the shortened link will appear above in the message box. I usually type in a message and then add the link. You can add hashtags (# signs) for Twitter use if you want. Then click on just Twitter or all your social networks and on “send now.” Again, you have notified all your social networks of your recent blog post.
You can keep up with what’s going on with your friends, followers and Tweeple by simply clicking on the tabs under the message box. You’ll see all the most recent feed and can even reply to those updates without having to open Facebook, Twitter or Linked in.
Using Hootsuite will save you a lot of time each day. Plus, you can schedule updates using this program. This means that when you are away from the office (or busy writing), on vacation or otherwise occupied, you can continue sending out updates to your social networks automatically. Pretty neat, huh?
