Social Media Engagement, Week #5
I can hardly believe that this is the last writing prompt in our social media experiments theme this month. This also closes out our fourth month of doing writing prompts here at WriteNonFictioninNovember.com. I hope you are finding these prompts to be useful. Today, your job is to attempt to track your social media experiments in written form in a blog.
Creative Idea Gal’s Thoughts
In addition to doing your own social media experiments, a useful thing to do is to keep track of your experiments by writing about them. Describe the experiment. What tools did you use? How did you use them? What worked? What didn’t? What did you learn? Is there something you can learn to do better?
Blogger Kiril Kundurazieff invented an interesting platform to memorialize his social media experiments as open-book observations of what he has done. He blogs daily and captures small moments in social media in an often humorous way, but always with some sort of lesson learned. His blog, SMFCB: A 365 Project, is already on day 57 of his 365-day project and promises to entertain us in upcoming posts. This is a great example of one person who tracks his social media experiments in a blog. You can do the same!
Helpful Resources
“The whole point of this experiment will be to see how much exposure I can get by implementing good social networking practices. I want to know how easy it is for somebody (like me) who doesn’t have much experience with social media marketing to make a success out of it.” – Memma Hough, blogger
“Let’s make the process of experimenting fun – let’s start with a Facebook Friday. Their experiment is going to be focused on deepening and improving their Facebook presence for the Arts Council and getting everyone on staff to participate.” – Beth Kanter, blogger Writing Prompt 049
- Step 1: If you already have a blog, consider writing blog posts describing your social media experiments. If you do not have a blog yet, consider this a good incentive for you to start.
- Step 2: Think about every single social media experiment you’ve conducted. Some experiences may be more interesting than others. Start to categorize them by tool, ease of use, personal preference, or other category.
- Step 3: Track your social media experiments in a blog format. Write about all experiences, big or small.
Please be sure to leave comments about this writing prompt. We want to hear from you!
